A Tale of the Seasons

Daryll Taylor, The Grow-Sir, is working on the land, growing flowers & making preserves in Eastleach, in the heart of the Cotswolds.

Through the growing season I offer flowers for colour, form, perfume and vase life. I aim for simple, subtle bunches, sometimes one species will be all that is needed to tell the story. Less is more and sometimes small is beautiful.

I also preserve small batches of home-made jams and jellies, chutneys and pickles. Carefully curated, unique flavours, perfect for the home table or gifting. Ingredients are grown in the Eastleach garden or sustainably and locally sourced to ensure the very highest quality.

The Grow-Sir is an evolving project, like my produce it is growing organically. What I do is seasonally dependent and varies from year to year …. journey with me by following my social media.

I plan to offer subscription flowers (weekly, fortnightly or monthly bunches), delivered on Saturdays within a five mile radius of Eastleach Turville.

MY STORY

Simplicity, seasonality, provenance, sustainability – these principles are at the heart of my approach to growing and cooking. My childhood was framed by the seasons in the veg patch, the garden, the woods and the hedgerow. That is where my journey as a gardener, cook and beekeeper began.

I grow in a holistic manner with sustainable and organic principles. Soil health and nutrition are paramount in my chemical-free approach. I have
colony of wild honey bees in the garden to aid pollination and a supply of nectar and pollen for the bees (a symbiotic relationship).

Growing from seed, seasonality plays just as an important role in the cultivation of flowers as it does a strawberry ripened by the summer sun; neither should hit the chill of a refrigerator … so everything you buy from the Grow-Sir has freshness at its heart.
